Permanent Exhibition: Light and Shadow of the Golden Era

Exhibition Description: The 1920s was a golden era for Taiwanese culture. A group of Taiwanese young intellectuals and traditional gentries created the Taiwanese Cultural Association to break away from the discrimination under Japanese colonial rule. They held lectures, played dramas and published magazines in order to enrich the knowledge of Taiwanese people. Promoted by the general public, all sorts of literatures and arts flourished and Dadaocheng had reached its prosperous prime. Under such historical contexts of 1920s, the Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial museum which was converted from a Taipei City heritage site, the North Taipei Police Station, is named after the “Taiwan New Cultural Movement. To highlight the historical legacy of 1920s, Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Museum exhibits the fan-shaped detention room and water dungeon which are the unique characteristics of North Taipei Police Station.
